Mr. Rene van der Bruggen, CEO of Imtech, said in January this year: “The smart, smart and highly automated total solution makes it possible for ships to achieve significant energy savings while optimizing passenger comfort.†Rene van der Bruggen Mr. also announced that the company has obtained a contract for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system for two new vessels of the Norwegian Tourist Ship and Shipping Company (NCL) at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. With a total tonnage of 143,500 GT, the vessel is the largest tourist vessel ever built in Germany and is scheduled to be delivered in 2013 and 2014.
Imtech also secured a contract to install an HVAC system for the Solstice type of Celebrity Cruises. The first "Celebrity Solotice" of the five series of vessels was built by Celebrity Cruises with a total investment of US$3.7 billion. Its HVAC system consists of 85 air handling units, 1600 cabin fan coil units and 110 common cabin fan coil units. 70 dedicated fan coil units, 1 air intake unit for dedicated cabin areas, and 1 separate cabin monitoring and control system. Air handling equipment has an energy recovery function.
Imtech has developed a new generation of vertical and horizontal fan coil units for passenger cabins that can be serviced from outside the cabin.
Imtech said that air intake devices are used in specific compartment areas. Unlike the fan coil unit, the unit is fitted with a suction nozzle through the cabin cooling coil without an additional fan. The company claims that this will reduce the electrical installation costs of the shipyard and reduce crew maintenance time.
Direct monitoring of the fan coil system is ensured through a separate cabin monitoring and control system. The fan coil can be controlled by a room temperature controller.
Imtech pushes the cruise ship HVAC system
[China Ship Network (CnshipNet China)] According to the "Shipbuilder" magazine, the propulsion system is the largest energy user on the cruise ship, and the air conditioning system is the second largest energy user. Since the service that provides maximum comfort to passengers is the purpose of the cruise ship, in addition to energy saving and energy efficiency, the air conditioning system is also very important in meeting the experience of the cruise ship.
