Engineering Academy launches clean coal major consulting project

On the 20th, the Chinese Academy of Engineering officially launched a major consulting project on the "China Coal Clean and Efficient Sustainable Development and Utilization Strategy Study." At the kick-off meeting, Zhou Ji, Dean of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered a speech. Principal advisors Xu Kuangdi and Pan Yunhe proposed guiding opinions and specific requirements for the project. Academician Xie Kechang, the project leader, introduced the project's project background, project setting, and implementation plan. 11 The task team leader has reported on the implementation plan of each topic.
The project was served as a project consultant by the Vice Chairman of the Tenth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Academician Xu Kuangdi, Chairman of the Presidium of the Academy of Engineering, Academician Zhou Ji, Academician of the Academy of Engineering, Academician Pan Yunhe, Academic Vice President of the Academy of Engineering, and Academician Du Xianglian, former Vice President of the Academy of Engineering, Academician of the Department of Energy and Mining Engineering, Coal Chemical Industry. Xie Kechang, the deputy dean of the expert, is the project leader, and the academician, mainly the department, is responsible for the tasks under the project. At present, a research team consisting of 24 academicians, 61 professors, 27 researchers, and 53 senior engineers has been organized. It has come from many domestic related companies, colleges, and research institutes. Shenhua Group, the world’s largest coal and energy company, also supports this project.
The project has set a total of coal resources and water resources; coal safety, high efficiency, green mining technology and strategic research; strategic research of coal upgrading technology and transmission and distribution programs; pollution control and purification technology in coal utilization; new clean coal combustion technology; Advanced coal-fired power generation technology; advanced transmission technology and its impact on the clean and efficient use of coal; coal clean and efficient conversion; coal-based multi-generation technology; coal-fired energy-saving technology in 10 research groups and comprehensive research group.
The project will last for one and a half years. It will focus on the concept of high-carbon energy and low-carbon energy utilization. It will focus on the clean and highly efficient development and utilization of coal. It will use domestic and foreign industrialized and near-industrial technologies as examples, and advanced strategic research methods such as technology. Road maps, full life cycle assessments, etc. are used as tools to address China's coal as a major source of energy, a major source of pollution, and a source of carbon emissions through in-depth research on the overall, systematic, and fundamental issues related to the clean and efficient development and utilization of coal. A dilemma was chosen to provide a near-mid-term (pre-2020) solution.
